Role Overview

The Senior PySpark Data Engineer will work closely with data and business teams to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and platforms on AWS, supporting analytics and regulatory/reporting use cases in the banking domain.​

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using PySpark and Python on AWS-based data platforms.​
  • Build and optimize large-scale batch and near real-time data processing solutions for banking/financial use cases.
  • Write efficient, optimized SQL for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and reporting.​
  • Collaborate with architects, data engineers, BAs, and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.​
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance through robust testing, monitoring, and validation.
  • Implement best practices for security, compliance, and governance aligned with policies.​
  • Troubleshoot production issues, optimize jobs, and improve performance and cost efficiency on AWS.

Required Qualifications

  • 7–8 years of hands-on experience in data engineering / big data, with at least 4–5 years in PySpark.​
  • Strong programming experience in Python for data processing and automation.
  • Solid expertise in AWS cloud services relevant to data engineering (e.g., S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, CloudWatch).​
  • Advanced SQL skills including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization.
  • Experience working in banking / financial services domain preferred (regulatory or risk/analytics projects is a plus).​
  • Good understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL patterns, and data modeling.
  • Experience with CI/CD, version control (Git), and Agile ways of working is an added advantage.​

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for a global banking environment.​
  • Ability to work independently at client site 3 days a week and collaborate with offshore/onshore teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on quality, timelines, and compliance.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $35.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
