Cost Control Specialist I (Hybrid – Ontario)

Locations:
North York (VPC) or Markham (TOC), Ontario

Work Model:
Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

Additional Requirement:
Driver's abstract may be required due to occasional travel between offices

Position Overview

The Cost Control Specialist I provides cost tracking, reconciliation, and reporting support for multiple complex projects. This role ensures project costs are accurate, variances are analyzed, and stakeholders receive timely and reliable cost information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and reconcile project costs daily and weekly based on source documents.
  • Review, code, and monitor invoices for accuracy and proper allocation.
  • Maintain project cost trackers from multiple sources (Oracle/SAP, invoices, POs, vendor communications).
  • Perform monthly accruals and affiliate billing as required.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and variance analyses for project teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage scope changes and update the change log.
  • Support project management meetings, including scheduling and minute-taking.
  • Ensure adherence to sanctioned cost control processes.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • University degree or relevant field operations experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of distribution operations procedures and policies.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and company financial systems (Oracle/SAP).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and resolve issues promptly.
  • PMP, AACE certification, or Professional Engineering designation is an asset
