About the Opportunity

We are currently expanding and have an open opportunity for a full-time Estimator to join our team as a hybrid member working both remote and from our Campbell River, BC office.

As the new Estimator you will play a key role acquiring and shaping future projects. Your tasks will involve finding bid opportunities, communicating with clients, analysing project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates and materials lists, submitting bid packages, and collaborating with Project Managers. You'll be a key member of our team, helping us deliver accurate estimates and growing our business.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Acquire all necessary bid documents and details from customers.
• Review and understand drawings, specifications, and project scope.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and material take-offs for both new project tenders and ongoing project changes.
• Issue RFIs, submittals, and clarifications as needed.
• Prepare and issue shop drawings as needed.
• Acquire quotes and pricing from suppliers to ensure accurate pricing.
• Submit completed tenders to customers within the required timeline.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth project handoff.
• Maintain and update estimating tools and databases.
• Understanding building codes and product applications and specifications.
• Identify and pursue bidding opportunities, including reaching out to general contractors, builders, and developers.

About You

To qualify for this position, you will need to demonstrate adequate construction, exterior finishing, or formal estimating experience. In addition, this role requires a valid driver's license.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

• Experience with exterior siding systems or general construction assemblies.
• Experience with reading and interpreting construction drawings and plans.
• Ability to read and interpret product specifications.
• Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam.
• Proficiency in navigating and updating Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of Canadian Building Codes, standards, and compliance.
• Ability to manage digital filing systems and digital documentation effectively.
• Familiarity with Project Management tasks and budgets.
• Great organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective task management.
• Willing and able to create and document processes and operating procedures.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Bonus: Existing network of industry contacts or experience with business development.
