Are you a creative, innovative, and ambitious Landscape Architect looking to make a significant impact? Join our Community Development team at Stantec's Vancouver office We are seeking a licensed Landscape Architect to lead and/or assist on local, provincial, and regional projects for private and public clients.

At Stantec, we work on a diverse range of projects that ignite creativity and innovation. From urban design for public realms and plazas to parks, open spaces, sports complexes, and waterfronts, our projects are as varied as they are exciting. We also delve into reclamation, restoration, transportation corridors, healthcare, education, commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use developments.

Our Vancouver team not only leads landscape architectural projects but also collaborates within experienced interdisciplinary teams with a variety of specializations. Your Key Responsibilities

As part of our team, you will collaborate with skilled professionals on projects from initial planning to project close-out. Depending on your experience, you may lead or work under general supervision on various projects, ranging from small urban parklets to full subdivision open space and park plans. You will also play a key role in large and unique projects, where you will be responsible for landscape architectural design and detailing. 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as design/project lead or LA of record on various projects and oversee project work completed by others.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and execute designs.
  • Promote collaboration between urban design and landscape architecture teams.
  • Support the Regional LA practice leader with team strategies and initiatives.
  • Assist in business development activities in British Columbia and western Canada.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of our practice in western Canada.
  • Provide strategic directions on key projects and navigate challenges.
  • Mentor design team members on urban design and landscape architecture.
  • Support BC leadership in Major Projects and Land Strategy initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry activity/policy to maintain industry positioning.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and contractors to resolve project issues and implement designs.
  • Conduct site investigations and construction inspections.
Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Through demonstrated experience on landscape architecture projects, you have honed your design and technical skillset as it relates to landscape architectural projects.

Capabilities and credentials include but are not limited to:

  • Licensed in British Columbia with authority to sign and seal documents.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Technical knowledge to identify and address problems.
  • Familiarity with municipal and provincial approval processes.
  • Experience in preparing designs and construction documents.
  • Proficiency in drafting/design software such as AutoCAD and Land F/X.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD Creative Cloud is a bonus.
  • Commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for design and environmental stewardship.
  • Strong time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a commitment to client service.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited Landscape Architecture program.
  • Minimum 7 years of full-time experience in landscape architecture.
  • Licensed or eligible to apply for licensure in British Columbia immediately.
  • Local experience with municipalities and private clients is a plus.
  • Strong client and colleague interaction skills, including mentorship and business development.
  • Desire for quality design and ability to detail and document ideas.
  • Experience with client relations and complex projects.
  • Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas and lead strategic discussions.
  • Proven ability to turn designs into working drawings and execute them onsite.
