Duties

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain the treatment room, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
  • Record patient medical history, vital signs, and assist with medical documentation as needed.
  • Manage patient flow and ensure a smooth transition between appointments.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient patient management.
  • Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, ensuring a child-friendly environment.
  • Perform sterilization of instruments and adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent infection.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to provide exceptional care across various specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Dentrix
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures is essential.
  • Experience with medical imaging techniques and 3D scanners is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic technique.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients of all ages, particularly children in pediatric dentistry settings.
  • Competence in medical coding, documentation, and maintaining accurate medical records is beneficial.
