Overview

This is a casual labour position under the direction of the Lead Hand Cleaner and Operations Manager. Custodians perform duties as required to ensure the Building is kept clean and safe before and after events and from daily use as required per season. To perform duties safely and adhere to the TD Station JHSC mandates and WorksafeNB guidelines.  Expected to work non conventional work hours based mostly on the TD Station Event Calendar.

This role pays an hourly rate of $15.90 CAD

EVERGREEN ROLE: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; there is no application deadline



Responsibilities

General Duties   

  • Report to Lead Hand Cleaner or designate
  • Clean and maintain public areas before and after events. Areas include Lower and Upper Bowl, Stairwells, Washrooms, Hallways, Concourse, Suites, Washrooms and Lobby Areas.
  • Must be presentable to the Public, wear the assigned TD Station clothing identifying as TD Station Employees
  • Must be able to work around large crowds, be reliable, prompt, courteous and maintain a safe working behavior
  • May be responsible for cleaning bodily fluids
  • May be required to work long hours starting at an Event and continue into the clean ups as scheduled
  • May be required to take direction from other Staff such as Event Staff Supervisors or Building Operations
  • Expected to primarily work safely and efficiently with others as a group during clean ups unless assigned a specific task
  • To be able to work unsupervised.
  • To assist other workers in duties as required.

Bleacher cleaning includes Pick up Garbage by hand from the floor of the rows of seats, sweep smaller garbage and then Mop

Assist with the Custodial Staff's recycling program

Sweep and Mop the Concourse

Bathroom cleaning consists of garbage, sweeping, mopping, cleaning flat surfaces, cleaning mirrors, disinfecting toilets and urinals, restocking paper dispensers

Suites cleaning consists of all of the bathrooms, garbage/recycling plus vacuuming all carpets, spills on carpets and upholstered seating, flat surfaces and stacking any leftover catering containers for pick up

Alpine Room Cleaning consists of similar work as the suites with the addition of sweeping and mopping the two main stairwells from the Alpine Room, retrieving Garbage from the Seadogs Office

Garbages

Empty garbage, restock garbage cans with fresh bags, collect, empty and store recycling, separate garbage from cardboard. Dispose of garbage via the Compactor and Cardboard in recycling bin or cage depending on weather   

Dressing Rooms Cleaning  All Dressing Room consisting of DR 1-5, Referee's Room, and the Basketball Room 1 & 2.  Duties include garbage, sinks, toilets, picking up garbage from floors, sweeping and mopping, restocking as required.  In addition, the Rink side Bathrooms Media Room and Staff Room should be done.

Lobby cleaning consists of sweeping and mopping, cleaning mats if required, emptying garbage, wiping down all glass in the box office and the Glass doors, cleaning "Grey Floor", Box Office Back Hallway and assist with Concourse Clean Up



Qualifications

Grade 12 High School

Ability to climb stairs & lift over 25lbs

WHMIS & Knowledge of Health & Safety Practices
