We currently have one exciting new job opportunity in our downtown Toronto office located in the Bay-Adelaide Centre. This junior level claims position is responsible for proactively responding to new claims notices, setting up claim files and assigning claims promptly to examiners, administrative support to the team and assisting with the collection and analysis of claims data. The role is also intended to include the management of small to mid size multi-lines claim files.

Responsibilities

  • The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Address new claims submissions and assign to the appropriate team member for handling
  • Provide administrative support for your teammates and provide organizational support for data entry related tasks
  • Triage and/or respond to general enquiries from insureds, brokers, insurers and vendors
  • Handle small to mid-size claims (Ocean and inland marine, property, personal accident) under the direction of your teammates.
  • Provide prompt, efficient written communication within strict timelines
  • Efficient communication with several stakeholder groups, including claims personnel, company representatives, independent adjusters, and attorneys
  • Contribute to the capture of critical data and to the development of analytical reports to our clients
  • Assist in the production of monthly and quarterly KPI reports for the Associate Director of Claims and the Associate Vice President, utilizing an array of Excel formulas and functions and working within our claims database
  • Coordinate claims audit file set ups
  • Produce audit related action item reports and notes
  • Provide monthly bordereaux reports for claims data
  • Assist on ad hoc requests for claims manager and operations, e.g. data reconciliation
  • Communicate with claims assistants, examiners, and manager to identify areas of opportunity for improving efficiency, products, and services
  • Become familiar with underwriting terminology to effectively coordinate with underwriting teams and discuss certain metrics

Qualifications

  • Entry level role for recent graduates, or one to three years of claims experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Insurance preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CIP or actively working towards CIP designation preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and performance management software
  • Excellent Oral and written communication skills; ability to interpret documents, reports, manuals, and correspondence
  • Excellent customer service/relationship building skills
  • Ability to accurately handle a full case load in a fast paced environment
