We're not just in the title insurance business; we're in the client success business.We are seeking a motivated Junior Associate Claims Counsel to join our Corporate Legal Claims Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a new law school graduate or early-career lawyer who is eager to develop foundational experience in title insurance and real estate claims, supported by mentorship and training from senior counsel and management.Primary ResponsibilitiesInvestigating the facts and issues of a claim, including but not limited to communicating with title professionals, closing attorneys, lenders, claimants, and other counselParticipate in settlement discussions and negotiations as directed by senior counsel.Determining whether coverage exists and evaluating loss under the title policyMaintain accurate filing documentation and ensure compliance with internal claims-handling procedures.Negotiate settlements and resolutions with claimants, opposing counsels, and third partiesDirecting outside counsel on litigation strategy through the course of claim administration and litigationManaging the claim budget, reviewing and approving outside counsel invoices and other expenses, and determining settlement and expense reservesProvide exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional and solution-focused approach.QualificationsMust possess excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and advocacy skillsLaw degree and member (or eligibility for membership) with a Canadian Law Society (Ontario Preferred)0–2 years of related experience in legal practice, claims, or Real Estate (law school or articling experience considered).Experience in evaluating construction estimates relating to remedying work done without a building permit, notices of deficiencies and/or work orders.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to make decisions quickly and confidentlyAbility to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong computer skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teraview, and 3rd party Conveyancing platformsCTIC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package along with career growth opportunities with a Fortune 500 Company.BenefitsCompetitive Compensation PackageComprehensive Group Benefits Plan (Health and Dental)RRSP ProgramEmployee Stock Purchase PlanVacation and Personal Care daysRecognition for years of serviceAnnual Corporate Awards recognitionInterested candidates should forward their resume via e-mail to We thank all candidates for their interest but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.DisclaimerChicago Title is an equal opportunity employer.
