About the UFV Student Union Society
The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (SUS) is a BC Not-For-Profit Society representing and serving UFV students. The Society manages the Student Union Building and facilitates services such as the UFV U-PASS, food services, and the student health and dental plan. SUS also provides support to an active community by organizing events and providing wellness and developmental programming. As the official representative body of UFV students, our mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services. We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive.

Position Description
The Electoral Committee is an independent third party that hears removal appeals made by the candidates in the SUS Election. The Electoral Committee will meet once at the beginning of the election period, and again only if a candidate makes a removal appeal. It is meant to be apolitical and fundamentally fair in its oversight capacity. Members are expected to use good judgment and to apply all relevant policies and procedures in the decision-making process.
Members of the committee are subject to the rules outlined in the the four 'Elections' documents ) and, as such, must remain neutral regarding the election on all social media outlets, personal conversations, and any other forms of communication. Members may only comment on general information about the election to encourage participation.
Members of the Electoral Committee are still allowed to vote in the election, but cannot run for an elected position.
Qualifications and Assets
- Must be currently enrolled in a UFV program
- Must remain accessible throughout the entire election process
- Have the ability to negotiate to resolve difficult situations while being non-partisan and maintaining a strong sense of ethics
- Understand and enforce the Election procedures and all other related Society policies and procedures, as well as the institutional Codes of Conduct
- Remain unbiased
Term of Employment
For the position, one must be available throughout January, February and March 2026. The position starts when the nomination period begins and ends the week of ratification.

Important Note
Successful applicants will all meet once over Zoom, at the beginning of the election period, with the Electoral Officer (Date TBD). It is recommended that the Electoral Committee attend all other election events. Any other meetings will occur only if a candidate makes a removal appeal.
