Job Summary

The Customs Broker / Customs Entry Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting customs documentation to ensure the timely clearance of import/export shipments. This role requires strong knowledge of CBSA regulations, HS classification, duty/tax calculation, and excellent communication with customers, carriers, and government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit customs entries for import shipments in compliance with CBSA regulations.
  • Classify products using the correct HS codes and determine duties and taxes accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for customs clearance and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse teams, and clients to ensure timely cargo release.
  • Communicate with CBSA officers when clarification, ruling, or post-entry adjustments are required.
  • Monitor customs release status and troubleshoot delays proactively.
  • Ensure all entries align with company compliance standards and Canadian trade regulations.
  • Provide advisory support to clients regarding tariff classification, valuation, free trade agreements, and import compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of experience in customs brokerage or import/export operations.
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or willingness to obtain CCS is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CBSA import procedures, HS classification, valuation, and documentation.
  • Experience using customs brokerage systems (e.g., TradeLens / DESCARTES / WiseTech / BorderConnect).
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Fluent communication in English (Mandarin is an asset but not required).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments under time constraints.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with e-commerce, cross-border, or high-volume clearance environments is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (CUSMA/USMCA), duty relief programs, & temporary import procedures.
  • Customer coordination and problem-solving mindset.

Work Schedule & Benefits

  • Monday to Friday (standard business hours)
  • Occasional after-hours coordination depending on shipment timelines
  • Benefits package based on regional company policy (healthcare, PTO, retirement, etc.)

Pay: $3,500.00-$4,000.00 per month
