Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Delivery Service of the Eagle Urban Transition Centre, the successful candidate will provide receptionist, administrative duties and support to the Indian Residential School staff and clients.


Duties:

  • Answering and responding to telephone inquiries, taking messages with the Indian Residential School program.
  • Signing in clients for resources and services.
  • Processing cheque requisitions, purchase orders and mileage claims.
  • Maintaining files and records.
  • Assist in event planning for conferences, workshops, meetings.
  • Faxing and photocopying.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum High School Diploma and Administrative Assistant certificate or equivalent three to five years secretarial experience.
  • Knowledgeable of the Indian Residential Schools history.
  • Experience working with First Nation organizations and resources.
  • Experience interacting with a diverse group of clients.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer experience is required, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Calendar and E-mails.
  • Knowledgeable of financial procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of processing cheque requisitions, purchase orders, invoices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with staff and the public, outgoing and friendly personality.
  • Able to set priorities and work under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, attention to detail and maintain work accuracy.
  • Punctual, dependable and reliable.
  • Able to follow directions in a timely fashion.
