Job Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our team, ensuring the precision and compliance of aircraft parts, materials, and documentation. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in aviation.

Direct Accountabilities:

  • Report directly to the Site Quality Manager and execute inspection duties to verify conformity of DeHavilland-made products, as well as those produced for DeHavilland or sold to DeHavilland, with regulatory requirements, Design Certification criteria, DHC-SOP's, and specific customer requirements.
  • Make informed decisions (approve/deny) regarding the inspection of aeronautical products, materials, and related items, meticulously recording the outcomes of inspections.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain comprehensive records and reports detailing inspections, investigations, and certifications.
  • Document and record service or repair activities related to the inspected products.
  • Evaluate and manage the impact of changes to DeHavilland's Quality Management System on site operations, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Provide recommendations for adjustments to rules, policies, standards, and regulations based on operational insights and improvements.
  • Collaborate with part suppliers and the DHC QA department to resolve non-conformance issues identified during inspections or audits, and implement corrective measures to prevent future issues.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of aeronautical product documentation.
  • Collaborate with part makers and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with Certificates of Conformance (CofC) and Airworthiness Release Certificates (FAA 8130 / TCCA Form One / EASA Form 1).

Education required and skills

  • Education:
    • TCCA Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's license (AME) M1 is preferred.
    • Technical degree or diploma in Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of aerospace-specific quality inspection or inspection planning experience, with a preference for civilian or DHC internal experience (Military experience may not align due to certification differences in Military aircraft).
    • Proficient understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) 561 (Manufacturing) and 571 (Maintenance).
    • Familiarity with US-FAA Orders 1100, 8000, 8100, 8110, 8120 is an advantage.
    • Knowledge of EASA design and certification rules and Maintenance rules is a plus.
    • Ability to interpret complex aircraft design drawings/blueprints and perform accurate measurements/testing of parts in line with these designs.
    • Solid grasp of Government and Industry standards for "Standard Aircraft Parts" (AN/MS/NAS/SAE, etc.).
    • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Strong attention to detail, essential for maintaining rigorous quality standards.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on customer service, both internal and external.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Experience with IFS ERP system or similar platforms for aeronautical parts and materials control and issuance is an asset.
  • Certifications:
    • AME M1 License - preferred.
    • TCCA accredited College Diploma in Aeronautics with a minimum pass of 70% - REQUIRED.
    • University Degree or Diploma in Aeronautics - optional.
    • TCCA approved Type Training course on DeHavilland Type - Preferred but not required.
