Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct CrossFit Classes
- Lead dynamic and engaging group CrossFit classes, ensuring they are tailored to varying fitness levels.
- Implement effective training sessions that combine strength, conditioning, mobility, and endurance.
- Ensure all members are progressing toward their personal goals while scaling the class to meet individual needs.
- Safety Monitoring
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment by ensuring proper technique and form throughout all movements.
- Provide real-time feedback to participants to help them perform exercises safely and effectively.
- Identify and mitigate any safety risks during classes, advising on correct form, posture, and injury prevention techniques.
- Instruction and Coaching
- Provide clear, actionable instruction for each exercise, including scaling options for all levels.
- Motivate, inspire, and encourage all participants during class, helping them push through mental and physical barriers.
- Correct errors and give positive reinforcement to foster progress and build confidence in athletes of all levels.
- Facility and Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the CrossFit area, including equipment and fitness tools.
- Ensure that all gym equipment (e.g., kettlebells, barbells, dumbbells) is properly stored, cleaned, and well-maintained.
- Assist in the general upkeep of the gym environment, ensuring it's safe, clean, and welcoming at all times.
- Equipment Use and Demonstration
- Instruct members on the proper use and handling of weight resistance and cardiovascular equipment, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
- Provide demonstrations of techniques for all exercises, ensuring members understand how to use the equipment safely.
- Risk Minimization
- Advise clients on appropriate attire, footwear, and warm-up strategies to minimize injury risks.
- Assist members in scaling workouts based on their experience, ability, and any existing injuries or limitations.
- Continuously monitor participants for signs of fatigue or strain, stepping in to provide modifications or breaks as necessary.
- Member Engagement and Retention
- Foster a positive and motivating environment that encourages consistent participation.
- Use music, creativity, and diverse workouts to keep classes fun, challenging, and enjoyable.
- Build relationships with members, providing guidance and support both during and outside of class time.
- Actively encourage members to engage with the community, participate in events, and push themselves to achieve new goals.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Stay updated on CrossFit trends, methodologies, and best practices by attending workshops and seminars.
- Participate in staff meetings and team-building activities to maintain a cohesive coaching environment.
- Occasionally assist with gym events, community outreach, and promotional activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) Certification (required). Additional certifications are a plus (e.g., CF-L2, CF Mobility, etc.).
- Experience in coaching CrossFit or functional fitness in a group setting. Ideally, at least 1-2 years of coaching experience.
- Strong understanding of CrossFit methodology, including knowledge of movements, scaling options, and programming.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct and motivate individuals and groups of various fitness levels.
- Leadership abilities: Ability to create a vision for the class, set appropriate goals, and inspire clients to reach them.
- First Aid/CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Personal fitness achievements (e.g., CrossFit competitions, strength training experience) are a plus.
- Positive attitude and energy: Ability to bring excitement, energy, and enthusiasm to every class.
- Empathy and patience: Ability to adjust and adapt coaching to different learning styles and fitness levels.
- Customer-focused: Dedicated to providing a high level of service and experience for gym members.
