Primary Function

The Transportation Load Planner is responsible to work with customer service and distribution to plan outbound shipments, assign carriers, and secure customer delivery appointments. Work with distribution to create an outbound schedule that corresponds to the stated unit capacity plan.

Responsibilities
  • Work with internal and external customers, including order entry, production, and distribution to ensure shipments are scheduled to make specific arrival dates to customers.
  • Utilize tools including our warehouse management, order entry, and transportation planning systems to plan and schedule shipments.
  • Monitor tools to identify past due orders and expedite planning process.
  • Work with carriers to ensure timely planning, pick-up, and delivery of all outbound loads.
  • Provide notification of freight readiness, re-consignment, and other required communication to carriers.
  • Track outbound shipments as requested or required.
  • Daily reporting to production to advise each item that is needed to complete shipments.
  • Maintain and update all known accessorial charges and spot quote information in the transportation management system.
  • Arrange transportation for all customer returns.
  • Analyze outbound freight lanes to determine where cost savings and on-time performance can be improved.
  • Cube shipments in Max Load to reduce freight expenses and cost per unit while meeting customer expectations.
  • Prepare daily reports as required by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • DEC in transport logistic or equivalent field or pertinent experience.
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in transport load planner.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially MS Office and internet browsers
  • Experience in warehouse management systems (SAP a plus). Ability to learn Max Load and other systems including transportation management.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, bilingual (French and English).
  • Ability to multi-task and work under time and date driven deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, positive, dependable and have a high degree of integrity.
Education

Associate Degree in Business Management or Related Field
