Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Technologist to join our dynamic team in delivering advanced automation solutions to industrial clients. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in industrial control systems, programming, and networking, along with the ability to work independently in the field. This role involves design, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control systems across various industries.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot industrial control systems including variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motor control centers.
  • Develop and maintain control programs using Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and associated software (e.g., RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000).
  • Work with industrial communication protocols and networks such as: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, Modbus (RTU & TCP)
  • Program and integrate HMI/SCADA systems as required.
  • Develop custom software tools or utilities using Visual Basic, VB.NET, and C#.
  • Perform onsite troubleshooting, commissioning, installation, and startup of control systems.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and clients to ensure systems meet operational and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical support and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and work with other control platforms, including Siemens and GE PLCs.
  • Travel to customer sites for onsite work, which may include overnight stays and occasional extended assignments.  Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or electrical controls.
  • Certified Electrical Technologist
  • Proficient in Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and control panel design.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial Ethernet networking and fieldbus technologies.
  • Experience with Modbus, Profibus, and Profinet communications.
  • Proficiency in VB, VB.NET, C# and scripting for automation applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, especially under pressure during field commissioning.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel (including internationally if required).
  • Valid passport for travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens, GE, or other PLC platforms.
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA software such as Ignition, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, etc.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and machine safeguarding.
