About The Position
Walters is recruiting a Co-op student to assist in the Sales/Estimating Department, in the Walters Corporate Office. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Reviewing consultants 2D drawings or 3D models to perform material take-offs.
  • Estimating the cost to fabricate a wide range of steel structures.
  • Soliciting pricing from suppliers and partners.
  • Preparing price comparisons and sales proposals.
  • Assisting with construction planning such as crane locations.
  • Assisting with process and operational improvement.

Work Location:

  • Hamilton ON.

Position Requirements

  • Presently enrolled in an Engineering, Technologist or Construction Management Program.
  • Experience in construction or metal fabrication is an asset.
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to read structural and architectural drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Experience with Tekla or other 3D modelling software is an asset.
  • Experience with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python, or other programming languages that interface with Microsoft Excel is an asset.
