The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Transportation Planner or Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to join WSP's Mobility Planning and Advisory team and meaningfully contribute to a broad variety of transportation planning and engineering projects across Canada.

The Transportation Planning group offers planning and engineering services for the full spectrum of transportation challenges. These include but are not limited to: Complete Street and Active Transportation/Trails Infrastructure Planning, Functional and Detailed Design, regional and area transportation studies, site specific transportation assessments, design guidelines and innovative design solutions/research, transportation demand management (TDM), transportation modelling, public engagement, road safety improvements, transit planning, parking studies, transportation master plans and traffic analysis.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Collaborating with your colleagues on exciting projects and opportunities, from data collection and analysis to reporting and supporting your team on a variety of in-field and in-office technical tasks, including graphics preparation.
  • Applying best practices and identifying innovative solutions as required for the planning, design and implementation of multi-modal transportation, transit and traffic projects.
  • Working with a multi-disciplinary team including transportation/traffic engineers, planners, designers, and landscape architects.
  • Preparation and/or oversight of technical memos and reports to communicate technical results and recommendations.
  • Attending client and public meetings.
  • Developing progressive experience in project management and coordination.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • A passion and/or professional interest in transportation and contributing to the planning and design of multi-modal solutions.
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Transportation Engineering or Transportation Planning.
  • P. Eng. or RPP designation
  • 3-10 years' experience in the transportation engineering and/or transportation planning field. 
  • Able to demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills and proficient using Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in traffic operations and site analysis.
  • Experience in transportation software and methods (e.g. Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, VISTRO, Aimsun). 
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment with an interest in growing professionally and learning.
