Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Collision Repair Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

A Collision Repair Estimator is responsible for assessing vehicle damage and preparing accurate repair cost estimates while ensuring a smooth communication process between customers, insurance companies, and repair technicians. Their primary responsibilities include:

  • Damage Assessment – Inspect vehicles to identify collision damage, determine necessary repairs, and document findings clearly.
  • Estimating Repair Costs – Use industry-standard estimating software to calculate labor, parts, and material costs for repairs.
  • Insurance Coordination – Work with insurance adjusters to submit estimates, negotiate approvals, and ensure compliance with insurance guidelines.
  • Customer Communication – Explain repair procedures, estimated costs, and timelines to customers while addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Repair Planning – Coordinate with technicians and parts departments to ensure proper scheduling and availability of required components.
  • Documentation & Compliance – Maintain detailed records of estimates, repair orders, and insurance claims while ensuring all estimates meet industry and shop standards.
  • Quality Assurance – Conduct follow-up inspections and verify repairs to ensure work meets safety and quality standards before returning the vehicle to the customer.

By effectively managing these responsibilities, a Collision Repair Estimator helps ensure efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction throughout the repair process.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Education: High school diploma required; additional certifications or training are an asset.
  • Experience: Background as a collision estimator or in an auto body/repair environment (entry-level to 5+ years depending on the shop).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of collision repair methods, parts, and labor requirements.
  • Software Skills: Proficient with industry-standard estimating programs and related tools.
  • Attention to Detail: Able to accurately assess vehicle damage and produce precise estimates.
  • Communication: Clear, professional communication with customers, technicians, and insurance partners.
  • Multi-Tasking: Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Familiarity with insurance claims and negotiation is an asset.
