About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Listing Quality Lead to join our Data Science team at Faire. In this pivotal role, you will focus on enhancing the quality of product listings through advanced machine learning and AI techniques. Your responsibilities will include developing algorithms to automatically detect and resolve issues related to product images and descriptions, extracting structured product attributes, and identifying duplicate listings and product variants. You will utilize deep learning models, multi-modal large language models (LLMs), and human-in-the-loop training methodologies to create robust, high-performance solutions. As the leader of the Listing Quality initiatives, you will mentor junior Data Scientists, drive strategic planning, and work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the end-to-end experience for brands and retailers. Your expertise will directly influence the accuracy, consistency, and overall quality of our marketplace, ensuring a seamless experience for our users and supporting Faire's mission to empower small businesses globally.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience applying machine learning to solve real-world problems
  • Proven experience with relevant business challenges in e-commerce or marketplace platforms
  • Expertise in deep learning, LLM fine tuning, and human-in-the-loop machine learning techniques
  • Strong programming skills in relevant languages such as Python, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for learning new tools, techniques, and methodologies
  • Ability to mentor and lead senior data scientists, develop team strategies, and independently drive model development
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Preferred: Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or related STEM fields
  • Preferred: Experience with listing quality management in e-commerce environments
  • Preferred: Experience with supervised fine tuning of multi-modal LLMs

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the data science vision, strategy, and roadmap for Listing Quality initiatives
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models to automatically detect and fix listing issues, including image and text quality problems
  • Leverage deep learning, multi-modal LLMs, and human-in-the-loop approaches to improve detection accuracy and model robustness
  • Mentor and guide junior Data Scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment
  • Lead the cross-functional Listing Quality pod, aligning efforts across product, engineering, and operations teams
  • Analyze and interpret data to inform product improvements and operational policies
  • Continuously evaluate model performance, iterate on solutions, and implement enhancements to optimize listing quality
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
