About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our Cyber Analytics team within the Security Solutions Data Science organization at Mastercard. This pivotal role involves developing and maintaining advanced analytics solutions that enhance fraud detection and cybersecurity measures across our payment systems. As a Data Scientist, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning, data mining, and large-scale data processing to identify threats, optimize fraud prevention strategies, and support strategic decision-making processes. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding our payment ecosystem, improving customer trust, and maintaining Mastercard's reputation as a secure and innovative leader in digital payments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Proficiency in building machine learning models using Python
  • Experience working with large-scale distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Hadoop
  • Strong knowledge of SQL for data management, data mining, and performance optimization
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS
  • Familiarity with the payment card industry, fraud detection, and cybersecurity principles
  • Recognized data science certifications (preferred)
  • Previous experience in data science roles within payments or cybersecurity industries (preferred)
  • Excellent quantitative, technical, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a curious mindset and a sense of urgency
  • Passion for cybersecurity and eagerness to learn new tools, techniques, and threat vectors

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain innovative data-driven analytical solutions, including predictive models and machine learning algorithms, to support fraud detection and cybersecurity initiatives
  • Identify compromised payment accounts through analysis of internal and external data feeds, anomaly detection, and tracking common points of purchase for compromised cards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product development, engineering, and operations to deliver scalable and effective solutions
  • Translate business requirements and stakeholder needs into technical analyses and actionable insights
  • Communicate complex analytical results and their business implications clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders
  • Optimize data pipelines and manage large datasets efficiently to ensure high-performance analytics
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, attack techniques, and industry best practices to enhance detection capabilities
