We are seeking an
Intermediate Cost Estimator
to develop accurate and timely cost estimates for capital projects, ensuring cost predictability and supporting strategic decision-making. You'll collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement specialists to deliver reliable estimates that drive project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates for various project phases (Class 5 to Class 3) following company standards and AACE Recommended Practices.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, equipment specs, and vendor data to determine material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Participate in estimate reviews and provide input on cost optimization strategies.
  • Monitor and validate contractor estimates to ensure compliance with Company and AACE standards.
  • Support bidding processes by reviewing contracts, RFPs, RFIs, POs, and bids.
  • Collect and assemble project cost data per Company cost management processes.
  • Provide specialty estimating services (e.g., quantity takeoffs) and maintain in-house estimating data.
  • Travel to Fort McMurray and other project sites as required.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Comply with all Health and Safety requirements and Alberta OH&S regulations.
  • Follow safe work procedures and ensure PPE is worn when required.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • CEP certification and AACE membership are assets.

Experience:

  • 3–8 years of cost estimating experience in oil sands projects.
  • Proficiency in Trimble and MS Office; exposure to WinEst is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and labor productivity.
  • Familiarity with AACE Recommended Practices.

Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and team collaboration skills.
