Role Description

HALO Mortgage Advisory Inc. is seeking a Commercial Mortgage Agent to join the team on a full-time, independent contractor basis. This is a remote role, open to qualified candidates across Canada.

The role involves originating, structuring, and managing commercial mortgage transactions while providing advisory-level guidance to clients throughout the financing lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include originating and executing commercial mortgage transactions; analyzing borrower financial statements, property fundamentals, and credit risk; structuring financing solutions across institutional and alternative lenders; preparing lender-ready submissions and credit narratives; managing client relationships from mandate through funding; maintaining compliance with FSRA, FINTRAC, Mortgage Alliance, and internal brokerage policies; and staying informed on market conditions, lender appetite, and regulatory changes.

Independent Contractor Structure

This position is offered on an independent contractor basis. Agents operate under the HALO Mortgage Advisory Inc. brokerage license and Mortgage Alliance franchise framework while independently managing their own client relationships and pipelines. Compensation is commission-based and includes access to HALO's commercial underwriting support, internal deal desk, lender relationships, and structured commercial processes.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a strong understanding of the Canadian mortgage industry with exposure to commercial lending; knowledge of commercial mortgage products, structures, and credit requirements; experience with mortgage documentation, servicing, and regulatory compliance; proven ability in mortgage marketing, business development, and relationship management; excellent communication, negotiation, and advisory skills; familiarity with Canadian commercial real estate and financial statement analysis; and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting performance targets.

Experience in financial advisory, commercial real estate, or business lending is considered an asset.
