Wellness Coach
to join our team for the school year to support our team at Tsuut'ina Nation – Many Horses High School and Chief Big Belly Middle School. This is a term position for the duration of a family leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families.
  • Working as part of a team, this position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the objectives of the Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) in Schools Initiative.
  • Delivery of programming involves whole school, classroom and small group work in contracted schools and community settings, and focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills, and fostering skills for resiliency that enable children, youth and adults to better their own mental health and wellness.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with children, youth, and families, and act as "go to" mental health subject matter experts for students, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Assists with evaluation of activities and survey data collection.
  • Some evening or weekend work may be required.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a degree in the health or social sciences field (such as community health promotion & prevention, social work, nursing, early childhood development, public health, psychology) and who is knowledgeable about addiction and mental health services.
  • At least 2 years working experience in addiction and mental health, or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered).
  • Experience with program planning and development using evidence-based practices, delivering programming and comfortable with public speaking.
  • Knowledge of the local community and resources available.
  • Capable of maintaining program statistics for purposes of evaluation and assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office programs and working knowledge of Canva.
  • Must be willing to travel in Calgary and surrounding areas.
  • Must have a clean, valid Alberta driver's license.
  • A reliable vehicle, auto insurance with a minimum $2,000,000.00 liability and driver's license is required.

Pre-Requisite Security Clearance Documentation:

  • Successful candidates must provide us with a valid 'Calgary Police Check with Vulnerable Sector' dated within 3 months prior to their start date.
  • 'Intervention Record Check through Alberta Child Services' is also required, however, we can support you with completing this during your onboarding.
