The role of Field Service Mechanic (Heavy) is required to assist in mechanical field operations. This role will see you working remotely to ensure the maximum availability of designated field assets. 

Additionally, this role will see you assist in the servicing schedules for field assets, and liaise with internal customers, and external service providers to ensure the technical integrity and timely repair of Councils field assets. 

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include: 

apply the correct maintenance and repair procedures to Fleet vehicles and equipment ensuring that repairs and maintenance conform with the requirements as listed in the manufacturer's manual and the Plant's issued documentation and policies including performing registration checks and inspections on Council plant and vehicles (including in the field) within required timeframes and ensure all vehicles are fit for purpose and comply with legislative requirementsactively contribute to a workshop that operates and ensures that Fleet vehicles and equipment continually meet and operate within WHS, Environmental Management, RMS and SafeWork regulationsprovide a mechanical service that maintains both the cost benefit and value of CCC Plant & Fleet assets including ensuring the timely acquisition of parts, services and material to meet works programmed timeframe through collaboration with the Fleet Administration team.

Essential Criteria:

a Certificate III qualification in Heavy Commercial Mechanical Technology or related field, combined with ongoing professional developmenta current NSW Fair Trading Tradesperson Certificatea current RMS Vehicle Examiners Certificate - Heavy Vehicle or willingness to obtaina current Construction General Induction Card - NSW SafeWork or equivalent a current Class MR Drivers Licenceformal training in onsite vehicle recovery or willingness to obtaindemonstrated recent experience in the repair of late model Fleet vehicles and equipment including experience in problem solving skills, conducting service repairs, utilising effective diagnostic skills including multiple trade disciplines in hydraulics, auto electrics & pneumatics whilst working remotely in a field setting demonstrated experience in the use of vehicle asset management systems, parts and materials acquisition systems and Microsoft suite of applicationsdemonstrated experience in the supervision, guidance and coordination of contractors and apprenticessound knowledge and understanding of industry standards, legislative requirements, principles and trends; including identifying hazards of working remotely in a field environment and ensuring adequate control measures and in place prior to conducting each task to ensure safety, environmental and legislative requirements are metdemonstrated ability and experience in communicating effectively and exchanging of information both verbally and in writing with staff, other work teams and stakeholdersthe ability to complete work and deliver according to developed schedules and key business priorities with minimal supervision and effectively adjust plans and schedules to changing work priorities.
