Manager Mobile App Development, Sportsnet

Who we're looking for: 

Rogers Sports & Media is rebuilding how millions of fans experience live sports through streaming apps, mobile platforms, and data-rich interfaces.

We're looking for a Development Manager to lead a mobile development team tackling complex technical challenges around live video delivery, real-time sports statistics, and interactive iOS and Android experiences that need to perform flawlessly during peak events. You'll be overseeing the development of scalable systems that power everything from mobile video streaming to live game data and visualizations. You'll be managing a cross-functional team of iOS, Android, and backend developers in close collaboration with the SN product managers and key internal and external stakeholders. This is hands-on technical leadership in a fast-paced environment where you'll guide mobile development teams building the video streams and interactive, data-driven experiences that keep fans engaged during major sporting events. 

What you'll do:

  • Manage and deliver the technical iOS and Android roadmap.
  • Perform hands-on coding of mobile solutions using the latest technologies, tools, SDKs and frameworks.
  • Provide leadership to a team of iOS and Android developers, as well as mobile app backend developers and QA, and work collaboratively across teams to deliver development initiatives.
  • Work closely with business and product teams to deliver the best user experience for our customers.
  • Hire, coach, develop and retain competent and engaged staff to achieve personal, professional and corporate objectives.
  • Accountable for end-to-end delivery of features, enhancements and projects.
  • Provide estimates and high-level solutions.
  • Implement processes, best practices, and tools allow for multiple paths of delivery.
  • Development culture and developer experience.
  • Be the leading voice for proper mobile architecture practices.
  • Maintain and improve existing in market apps.
  • Participate in regular code reviews.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (Daily scrums, backlog grooming, sprint planning, etc.).

What you bring: 

  • You have previous experience as a manager with excellent people management skills and the ability to hire and grow a talented team of developers.
  • Experience leading developers across all levels.
  • Ability to mentor other developers.
  • Have shipped and supported multiple apps.
  • Experience with Java, Kotlin, iOS and Android SDKs, and frameworks
  • Experience with CICD, Jenkins, XCode Cloud, Github Workflows
  • Solid communication skills
