Purpose of Role:

Western Sport & Recreation is looking for a passionate and motivated individual who is able to assist Director, Recreation & Active Well-Being with the administration and support of the Recreational Sport Clubs Program. The Program is a key contributor in cultivating a sense of belonging within the Western Student Recreation Centre as well as the campus community that is supportive of building a thriving and equitable campus. As the Recreation Clubs Assistant, you will be responsible for communicating with club student leaders, members, and instructors/coaches. Strong interpersonal skills will be essential as this role involves working closely with peers and other stakeholders working to provide a first-rate experience for all club members involved in the Program.

Responsibilities:

• Set up online course registrations for all recreational sport clubs – three times annually (Fall, Winter, Spring/Summer)
• Work directly with the Communications Manager to assist all recreational clubs with the web-based needs – logins, stories, photos, etc.
• Assist with payroll requirements – contracts, confirmation of hours worked, qualifications required, etc.
• Coordinate scheduling – facility needs, service disruptions, special event requests, etc.
• Work closely with the Travel Coordinator to confirm methods of travel for all recreational clubs
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• University degree
• First Aid and CPR Certification
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple assignments
• Professional manner, tact, and discretion when dealing with stakeholders and colleagues
• Creative problem-solving skills and sound judgement
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including spreadsheet design, word processing, and database management

EXPERIENCE:

• Previous employment at the WSRC preferred, but not required
• Experience in a supervisory role preferred, but not required
