The Senior Marketing Accountant role is a full-time, Calgary-based position and an exciting opportunity to join our high-performing Finance team, an essential part of Steel Reef Infrastructure Corp. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate settlement for our NGL Marketing business. In this role, you will work closely with our NGL Marketing team and the accounting/finance team to progress the accounting function within the marketing business through providing valuable financial reporting and analysis to the business as well as the leadership team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute to meaningful work, be part of a collaborative team and grow their financial analysis skills within the NGL Marketing space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and direct contributions to the Company's marketing accounting function;
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate creation and distribution of monthly NGL and natural gas marketing invoices;
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing process improvements, including optimization of an Excel-based billing system;
  • Preparation and review of monthly journal entries;
  • Review counterparty invoicing and reconcile supporting documents;
  • Resolve variances amongst internal and external stakeholders through investigation;
  • Accountable for the analysis of the marketing margins for internal reporting;
  • Accountable for counterparty account reconciliation and collection of accounts receivable;
  • Ensure full compliance with internal controls and corporate policies;
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and yearly budgets;
  • Drive process improvements and maintain strong internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial results.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in an NGL Marketing role;
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate working relationships with multiple departments as well as external customers;
  • Previous experience with Pandell JV, Petrinex, and Quorum TIPs;
  • Strong MS Excel skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Capability to manage multiple deadlines;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
