Business Information Analyst

As a Business Information Analyst, you will provide analysis to support business decisions in Emergency Management & Community Safety (EMCS). You will create and maintain system workflows for the 311 intake system and for the associated service delivery systems to ensure effective customer service delivery. Primary duties include:

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the processes and systems associated with the 311 intake and associated service delivery functions that support EMCS.
• Identify requirements for new or enhanced intake or service delivery processes and work with 311 and EMCS to design, develop, and test the new service request or service delivery workflows.
• Monitor the compliance of 311 agents and EMCS staff to system workflows and provide feedback to update their records to improve data quality and service delivery standards.
• Work with Learning & Development staff to create training materials for new processes and procedures.
• Provide business analysis and subject matter expert input to support the implementation of new systems, processes, or strategic initiatives.
• Mine data and develop reports to provide insights on business performance and trends. Analyze information collected and make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collect and publish information to citizens through open data platforms.
• Deliver presentations to EMCS operational leaders and front-line service teams.

Qualifications

• A completed 2-year diploma in Business Administration, Analytics, Information Management, Reporting or a related discipline and at least 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as data analytics, database mining, data visualization, research, report writing, communications or project management; OR
• A degree in Business Administration, Analytics, Information Management or a related discipline and at least 3 years of related experience in areas such as data analytics, database mining, data visualization, research, report writing, communications or project management.
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) will be an asset.
• The following experience or certifications will be considered assets:
• Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP), Records Management.
• CSR (Advanced user) and processing Service Requests; Animal Chameleon.
• Policy and Procedure Management (PPM).
• Intermediate database mining knowledge.
• Project Management Certificate.
• Certificate in Conflict Management or Negotiation Skills.
• Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or similar certification.
• Business Intelligence Reporting tool (Power BI).
• ESRI, GIS or other visual data preparation tools.
• The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to work independently to make decisions and resolve issues, and the ability to deal with sensitive information.
• The ability to create and maintain positive and sustainable working relationships is key to this position.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home as one of several flexible work options available to City employees.
