What to expect:
As a Certification Services Representative, you are responsible for providing and maintaining certification services for new and existing clients and to promote other CWB related service lines. This includes:
- Auditing of companies – validating welding activities i.e. verification of personnel and their welding credentials; ensure compliance to applicable codes and standards (e.g. CSA W47.1 CSA W186, CSA 47.2 and etc.); verification of procedure type documents; provide relevant opportunities for improvement (OFI).
- Procedure testing – Conduct testing for non – prequalified joint assembly as per the requirements of CSA W59.
- Welder testing – Conduct individual performance testing as per the requirements of CSA W47.1 and CSA W47.2.
- Public Safety activities- visiting job sites, liaising with building inspectors, engineers, and current and prospective clients.
In this position, you will report to the Regional Manager, Western Certification and will be working remotely from your home office in Vancouver Island, BC. CWB is adopting a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.
What you bring to the table:
- Minimum 5-10 years hands-on experience in the Welding Fabrication and Inspection industry, or as a Welding Educator
- Technical background and knowledge of the Welding and Joining industry
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work with indirect supervision
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Experience in using web-based platform e.g. Microsoft Teams
- A valid driver's license and own vehicle
- Must be able to travel within assigned territory and be in possession of appropriate travel documents as needed (e.g. passport)
The following qualifications are considered assets:
- CSA 178.2 Level 1 or 2 Inspectors Qualifications or industry equivalent (e.g. API/ CWI/ TWI Inspectors)
- CWB Welding Supervisor Qualification or prior Supervisory/Managerial experience
- Welding Technician/Technologist Diploma
- Experience in theoretical and/or practical welder training
- Prior experience working in a QA/QC environment
- Prior experience auditing existing Quality Management Systems
- Prior experience working with DNV, Lloyds and ABS
