Strohmaier Excavating Ltd.

Strohmaier Excavating Ltd. is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Foreman to lead crews and equipment on a variety of civil construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in safe, efficient work and knows how to bring projects in on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

As a Civil Construction Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and coordination of construction activities, including:

  • Supervising daily site operations to ensure work is completed safely, productively, and efficiently
  • Leading and supporting construction crews with clear direction and strong leadership
  • Coordinating daily activities with supervisors, project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and construction contract documents to layout and execute excavations
  • Planning work activities in alignment with project schedules and budgets
  • Assessing and coordinating material, equipment, and labor requirements
  • Supervising grading, bedding, backfilling, and excavation work
  • Conducting site inspections and pre-job assessments prior to project start
  • Assisting with crew and subcontractor planning, coordination, and scheduling
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies
  • Promoting a strong safety culture on every job site

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4+ years of proven experience supervising work crews in civil construction
  • 5+ additional years of hands-on experience in a civil construction environment
  • Strong working knowledge of road construction, earthworks, and underground utilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and contract documents
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of safe work practices related to municipal and utility-based construction
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License (Class 3 or Class 1 considered an asset)
  • First Aid certification
  • Must maintain a valid BC driver's license and an acceptable driver's abstract
