The Senior FP&A Analyst is a key business partner within the Finance Department, responsible for leading financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes that drive strategic decision-making. This role combines cost accounting expertise with advanced financial modeling, forecasting and business insight to enhance organizational performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts, coordinating with department leaders to align assumptions with strategic goals.
- Build and maintain complex financial models to forecast business performance incorporation scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure forecasting accuracy and consistency across departments.
- Support long-range strategic planning, evaluating financial impacts of new initiatives and business opportunities.
Management Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly management reporting packages, including variance analysis, commentary, and actionable insights.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards to measure financial and operational success.
- Translate complete financial data into clear, concise information for senior leadership.
- Partner with operations, sales, procurement, quality, production and warehouse and logistics to analyze performance drivers and develop improvement strategies.
Cost Accounting & Operations Finance
- Oversee the preparation, reconciliation, and analysis of material, labor and overhead costs.
- Evaluate product and customer profitability and recommend actions to improve margins.
- Lead inventory audits, variance investigations, and cost control initiatives.
- Provide cost insights that support pricing, production efficiency, and resource allocation decisions.
Capital & Strategic Analysis
- Evaluate capital investments, new product development and strategic projects using ROI, NPV and payback analysis.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews to measure realized benefits.
- Support M&A and business expansion modeling as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or Economics; CPA, CMA or CFA designation preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in FP&A, cost accounting, or financial analysis (manufacturing experience preferred).
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with BI tools (i.e Power BI, Tableau) an asset. Implementation of BI tools is an asset.
- Proven ability to partner with business leaders and influence decision-making.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures, product profitability, and operational metrics.
