The Role

We're looking for a
Senior Structural Steel Estimator
to join our team in Sarnia. You'll lead estimating efforts for structural steel fabrication, coatings, and erection scopes—building accurate, competitive, and executable bids by working closely with operations, engineering/detailing, procurement, and field leadership.

What You'll Do

• Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel projects (fabrication, coatings, and erection/installation)
• Review RFQs, drawings, specs, and client requirements; identify scope, risks, and assumptions
• Perform quantity takeoffs, develop pricing breakdowns, and build bid summaries
• Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor pricing (materials, equipment, transport, specialty scopes)
• Develop labour hours and productivity factors based on shop and field execution realities
• Coordinate with detailing/engineering and shop/field leadership to validate constructability and approach
• Build and maintain estimate templates, historical cost data, and lessons-learned inputs
• Support bid strategy, schedule considerations, and value-add options for clients
• Assist with change order pricing and post-award handoff to project management/operations

What You Bring

• 5+ years
  estimating experience in structural steel (industrial/heavy commercial preferred)
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices
• Working knowledge of
  CWB/CSA W59
  and familiarity with
  CISC/AISC
  standards (CSA S16 is an asset)
• Solid ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract language
• High proficiency with Excel; experience with Bluebeam Fabsuite/Powerfab or similar takeoff tools is an asset
• Strong communication skills—comfortable collaborating with multiple stakeholders
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines
• Experience estimating coatings/surface prep, transport, and heavy industrial constraints is a strong asset
