Overview

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan is hiring a Legal Advocate and Navigator to support our new Women's Legal Clinic in Regina.

This position provides front-line legal navigation and advocacy to women and gender-diverse individuals impacted by gender-based violence, poverty, and criminalization. The successful candidate will support trauma-informed legal service delivery through client intake, legal information, court accompaniment, document support, and referrals.

Responsibilities

Client Advocacy & Legal Navigation

  • Provide legal information, safety planning, and systems navigation
  • Conduct client intake and assist with documentation and follow-up
  • Draft affidavits, safety plans, and legal forms under the supervision of the Managing Lawyer
  • Accompany clients to court, police meetings, and legal appointments

Referral & Wraparound Support

  • Facilitate warm referrals to housing, reintegration, and cultural supports
  • Connect clients to internal EFSK programs and external agencies

Outreach & Education

  • Support community education, outreach, and workshops related to legal rights
  • Promote access to justice through trauma-informed, culturally grounded support

Administration & Record-Keeping

  • Maintain accurate client records and data for program evaluation
  • Participate in case conferences, supervision, and reflective team practice

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Justice Studies, Social Work, Women's & Gender Studies, Paralegal, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in legal advocacy, navigation, or frontline community support
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and anti-oppressive practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including plain language skills
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and legal traditions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and client data systems

Assets

  • Notary Public appointment or willingness to obtain
  • Willingness to seek limited licensing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan
  • Experience supporting self-represented clients or preparing legal documents
  • Fluency in an Indigenous or newcomer community language

Wage and Benefits

  • $29–$30/hour based on experience
