Rehab Physiotherapist Assistant, Orthopaedic Inpatient Surgery:
Your goal in this position is to independently perform prescribed rehabilitation therapy programs under the direction and supervision of an occupational or physical therapist, as well as administrative duties and equipment cleaning as required. You'll also provide excellent patient and family-driven care, in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. You have great interpersonal skills, and you effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

• Carry out exercise programs with patients on an individual or group basis and assisting with gait training as prescribed by the physiotherapist

• Perform appropriate patient transfers, and demonstrate safe lifting techniques and proper body mechanics to nursing staff and patients' families as instructed by the therapist

• Carry out ADL training with patients to facilitate independence as prescribed by the occupational therapist

• Conduct occupational therapy activity groups under the supervision of an occupational therapist once or twice weekly

• Assist patients in properly setting up strength training equipment

• Diploma from an accredited community college Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA) program

• Ability to work effectively with supervising therapist

• Experience leading group sessions and motivating patients to participate

• Experience working in a physically demanding, fast-paced, challenging environment

• Ability to apply physiotherapeutic modalities

• Bilingualism in French/English an asset
