Procurement Manager
to join the team in Calgary, Alberta.

Position Summary
Reporting to the President, the Strategic Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that align with organizational goals. This role ensures cost-effective sourcing, negotiation, supplier relationship management, and risk mitigation while driving operational excellence and compliance across the procurement function.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Planning

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Lead supplier selection and qualification processes, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Given the global nature of our business, the Procurement Manager will be flexible to plan and attend meetings in different time zones as required.
  • Periodic travel to international fabricators' locations as required.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and fabricators to ensure reliability and innovation.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Support the Quality Team.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee procurement systems and processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Production, Sales, Finance) to support project execution.

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, statutory, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Develop contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions.
  • Maintain compliance with quality management systems and ERP integration.

Leadership & Development

  • Manage and mentor a team of buyers and procurement specialists.
  • Establish KPIs and monitor performance to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Attend in-person Marmon's negotiation training.

Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (CPSM, CPM, ISM) are an advantage.

Experience & Skills

  • Technically minded, ideally with experience in a capital equipment environment.
  • 7–10 years of progressive procurement experience, including strategic sourcing and supplier management.
  • Proven track record in negotiating complex contracts and managing global supply chains.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Some international travel will be required.
