We're looking for a Senior Underwriter - Construction to drive the continued growth of our construction book of business
Reporting to our Operational Underwriting team, you'll collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including brokers, portfolio underwriters, and our insurance analytics team, to enhance our insurance offerings at Zensurance.
Your primary responsibilities will involve managing broker referrals and collaborating on diverse initiatives crucial to the overall success of this portfolio. You'll directly influence the development and competitiveness of our insurance products through your valuable insights on appetite and pricing. Furthermore, you'll have the opportunity to mentor and guide fellow team members, sharing your expertise and fostering their professional growth. Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and manage a book with a focus on construction risks.
  • Meet premium and bind ratio targets while maintaining a disciplined underwriting approach.
  • Contribute to operational efficiency, ensuring streamlined processes and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with leadership to shape the growth and profitability strategy for the new program.
  • Provide input on pricing strategy to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Collaborate on underwriting guidelines, wordings, endorsements, extensions, and exclusions based on appetite expansions, customer demand, and evolving offerings in the marketplace.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with Zensurance brokers, acting as a trusted partner in the marketplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of commercial underwriting experience specializing in construction and/or P&H risks.
  • Experience underwriting heat application roofing and commercial snow removal risks is an asset.
  • CIP, CRM or FCIP is an asset.
  • Experience working with an MGA or program specific division of an Insurance Company.
  • Track record of achieving premium and bind ratio targets.
  • Ability to build relationships both with markets and brokers.
  • Ability to utilize collaboration skills while taking ownership of projects.
