Position Summary

The Process Engineer will be based on-premise at Element6's Guelph, Ontario office, contributing to the engineering and execution of industrial projects from concept development through detailed design and commissioning. The successful candidate will take ownership of process engineering deliverables, support cross-disciplinary coordination, and ensure all process systems meet technical, safety, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities


• Develop and maintain process engineering deliverables such as:


• Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)


• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)


• Line lists, equipment datasheets, and process descriptions


• Material and energy balances


• Perform process calculations, simulations, and equipment sizing.


• Support conceptual studies, FEL phases, and detailed design packages.


• Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, and process safety assessments.


• Provide technical input to cost estimates, schedules, and procurement packages.


• Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, civil, and controls engineers to ensure cohesive designs.


• Interface with vendors, contractors, and clients to ensure technical alignment.


• Support commissioning and startup activities, including on-site troubleshooting when required.


• Ensure all work complies with Element6 standards, client specifications, and regulatory codes.

Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent).


• Registered or eligible for registration with PEO or APEGA.


• 3–10 years of relevant experience in process design and project execution.


• Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS or similar process simulation tools.


• Strong understanding of process safety, control strategies, and instrumentation principles.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Demonstrated ability to work on-site in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.


• Experience in EPCM, oil & gas, chemical, or industrial facility projects considered an asset.
