Web Developer / Web Manager

Full-Time | In-House | Calgary, AB

Starting Salary: $90,000

Start Date: Within 2–4 weeks

Agency Atlas is hiring a Web Developer / Web Manager to lead, build, and scale our web delivery function. This is a hands-on role for someone who can both manage contractors and personally deliver high-quality web work, with a clear path to transitioning into a full-time management role as the agency grows.

This is not a remote position. Applicants must be local to Calgary and willing to work primarily in-office, with occasional work-from-home flexibility.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for overseeing external development partners while also contributing a minimum of 20+ hours per week of your own billable development work. Early on, this role is equal parts builder and leader. Over time, as Agency Atlas continues to grow, the role will evolve toward exclusive management and technical leadership.

You'll work closely with strategy, design, SEO, and account teams to ensure websites are built cleanly, efficiently, and in line with client goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver websites and web functionality hands-on (minimum 20+ billable hours/week)
  • Manage, coordinate, and quality-control external web development contractors
  • Act as the technical lead on web projects across multiple clients
  • Ensure projects meet scope, timeline, performance, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with designers to translate Figma files into functional builds
  • Work closely with SEO and digital teams to ensure technical best practices
  • Maintain documentation, workflows, and development standards
  • Gradually take on increased leadership and management responsibilities as the team scales

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years professional web development experience
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress (custom themes, plugins, and builds)
  • Experience managing or working with external developers or contractors
  • Ability to scope work, review code, and provide technical direction
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects in a fast-paced agency environment

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with HubSpot CMS and integrations
  • Familiarity with Shopify
  • Understanding of SEO, performance optimization, and accessibility standards
  • Prior agency experience
  • Light DevOps or hosting experience
