Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial activities of the company – working with external accountants and consultants as needed – covering U.S. & Canadian taxes, WSIB premiums, U.S. state sales taxes, transfer pricing, AP/AR, general cash flow management, affiliate payments and expense reimbursements.

The role is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

Responsibilities

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Coordinate the creation and sharing of financial reports periodically
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, models and systems
  • Expert knowledge in finance and accounting procedures and regulations
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
  • Exceptional reporting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Quickbooks Online
  • Manage payroll and expense payments
  • Work with Canadian and U.S. accountants and consultants for regulatory and financial filings and compliance
  • Oversee and manage procedures and systems of the company's accounting and finance

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Tax planning for founders
  • External investments and acquisitions
  • Company valuations
  • Managing foreign exchange
  • Planning for getting loans and additional capital for inventory purchases
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Required experience

  • Five years of experience with accounting, budgeting, auditing, financial planning, and related tasks.
  • Two to three years of experience leading a team, preferably in a financial office environment.
  • Solid experience with financial regulatory and tax filing requirements in Canada and the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in finance management or a similar role with a strong understanding of financial services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, cost management, account reconciliation, and risk management practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with experience in managing teams effectively.
  • Proficient in financial software applications like Quickbooks Online.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present financial information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
