DUTIES AND ABILITIES:

  • Complete pre-trip inspections
  • Safe operation of machinery
  • Excellent communication
  • The boom truck operator also must be willing to work as a labor as needed
  • Maintain track infrastructure i.e rails, ties, switches, surface, ballast etc.
  • Operate and maintain various hand tools for assigned work
  • Remove and replace defective ties, rails, and other tram materials
  • Repair deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge
  • Unload ballast and distribute track materials
  • Snow removal, vegetation removal, shoveling ballast and dirt, repetitive swinging, walking for long periods of time on uneven surfaces
  • Ensure a safe working environment while following the policies and procedures set forth by the company.
  • Maintain and protect company assets
  • Able to perform repetitive physical activity, lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Available for shift work, with occasional overtime when necessary
  • Available for long periods of travel, including overnights
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Class 3a Licence
  • Ability to pass CROR
  • Boom/Crane Fundamentals
  • Minimum 3 years working in the rail industry
  • Must clear a Drug and Alcohol test
  • TIGs Certification an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Demonstrate good teamwork and maintain positive interactions with others
  • Displays common sense and good judgment
  • Hand-eye coordination
