Purpose and Objective

As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing our Microsoft-based hybrid infrastructure. In addition to server and network administration, a portion of your role will involve desktop support — ensuring staff have the tools, troubleshooting, and assistance they need to stay productive.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy).
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services (incl Exchange Online, SharePoint, Entra, Teams).
  • Oversee network infrastructure including firewalls & switches.
  • Implement and monitor security best practices across systems and endpoints.
  • Perform regular system updates, backups, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Provide desktop support for end-users, including hardware/software troubleshooting, application support, and device setup & deployment.
  • Utilize and manage Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) software — preferably NinjaRMM — for proactive system monitoring, patching, and endpoint management.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to plan and execute infrastructure upgrades.
  • Document processes, configurations, and policies for compliance and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores (Veeam).
Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or Microsoft 365 Certified are an asset.

    Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator in a Microsoft-centric environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy management.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Experience providing desktop support in a professional environment.
  • Experience with RMM software required (preferably NinjaRMM).
  • Administer and support Endpoint & Network Security solutions — Trend Micro Vision One preferred — to safeguard systems against threats.
  • Familiarity with endpoint management tools and cybersecurity practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Strong communication skills for supporting staff and documenting technical processes
  • Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Windows 11.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
