This position is strictly for court appearances only under the supervision of a principal paralegal.
The role does not involve:
- Client communication
- File management
- Drafting documents
- Research
- Administrative duties
- Court scheduling or case preparation
This is a full-time, high-volume courtroom role suitable for someone who thrives in POA court and prefers being on their feet rather than behind a desk.
Job Summary
The Court Appearance Agent will attend Provincial Offences courts throughout Ontario to handle daily court matters on behalf of the firm. Responsibilities include speaking with Prosecutors and Justices of the Peace, addressing procedural matters, entering pleas and adjournments, and providing accurate reports after each appearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend court daily as assigned
- Conduct Early Resolution discussions and procedural appearances
- Manage adjournments, pleas, and other routine courtroom matters
- Communicate appearance outcomes promptly and accurately to the principal paralegal
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times within the courtroom environment
Qualifications
- Licensed Paralegal or Paralegal Student under an approved Principal
- Confident, articulate, and professional in court
- Strong understanding of Provincial Offences court procedure
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent time management and punctuality
- Ability to handle a high volume of daily matters efficiently
