The Role:

We are presently seeking an Automation Service Technician to join our remarkable team. This is a customer facing role with regular travel to client sites. You will be responsible for the design, development, troubleshooting, and documentation of complete control programs, as well as providing field service, integration and technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot and document complete control programs (PLC, HMI, robotics, motion)
  • Provide field service and customer support for automation systems at client sites
  • Diagnose and repair automated machines on Allen-Bradley and Omron PLC/HMI platforms
  • Support integration and servicing of industrial robots (Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, or similar)
  • Perform system upgrades, modifications and preventative maintenance
  • Document service calls, findings and recommendations
  • Collaborate with in-house design and controls engineering teams to deliver turnkey solutions

Qualifications:

  • University or College degree/diploma in Electrical/Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation and Robotics, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in automation controls or field service
  • Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley (A/B) and Omron PLC/HMI platforms
  • Experience with robotics integration (Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, Omron, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.)
  • Electrical troubleshooting and ability to read schematics
  • Excellent problem solving and customer communication skills
  • A valid passport and willingness to travel
  • Must be legally able to travel to and work in the United States and Mexico for business purposes

Assets:

  • Knowledge of servo/motion control systems (Allen-Bradley Kinetix, Beckhoff, LinMot, etc.)
  • Familiarity with safety systems (ANSI B11, CSA Z432, ISO)
  • Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic automation systems
  • Database integration, vision systems and gauging experience
  • Previous experience in a custom machine-build environment
