Position:
Product Owner/Business Analyst

Location:
Tribeca, NYC - 3 days/week on-site

Duration:
12+ month contract

Type:
W2 contract, paid hourly. No C2C, 1099, or third-party submissions will be accepted. Only direct W-2 candidates will be considered.

Pay Rate Range:
W2 $45-54/hr

Job Description:

  • Higher level of experience and expertise in product management.
  • Responsible for strategic product planning, managing multiple product backlogs and mentoring junior Product owners.
  • Product Execution: Able to write specs for minor features and contribute meaningfully to specs for major features. Able to negotiate the implementation of current work, make the right trade-off decisions to launch products in a high quality manner. Knows when to escalate to managers. Works with teams to make recommendations that deliver maximum value to end users as quickly as possible. Can efficiently assess the quality and readiness of a release.
  • Customer Insights: Formulates the right business questions to be asked and knows how to track down data to inform decisions. Can use low fidelity tools to outline a design approach and then work with teams to translate them into higher fidelity representation of the feature. Makes regular contact with users of product and uses multiple sources to prioritize roadmap decisions.
  • Product Strategy: Understand business outcomes and how product decisions impact tradeoffs. Responsible for crafting a near-term product roadmap (in partnership with manager) and can communicate to junior team members.
  • Primary responsibilities include: Full ownership of the product backlog and near term roadmap, ensuring that it is properly refined, prioritized and groomed. Agile Ceremony Ownership across POD and includes tracking velocity and identifying efficiencies for teams. Ownership of user stories, refinement process and Stakeholder Management (ongoing collaboration and updates). Ownership of technical design decisions, performs product performance monitoring, track and analyze key product metrics.

Required Skills:

  • 1–3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Junior Product Owner, or similar role.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
  • Strong skills in writing user stories, business requirements, and process documentation.
  • Ability to lead working sessions and communicate effectively with business and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.

Soft Skills

  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working independently under direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Work directly under the Product Owner to execute the product vision, roadmap, and priorities.
  • Assist in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Serve as a point of coordination between the Product Owner, developers, UX, and business teams.

Required Software/Technology

  • Hands-on experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • JIRA, Confluence & Tool Administration
  • Create and manage JIRA epics, stories, tasks, and dashboards to maintain transparency across teams.
  • Ensure story quality, acceptance criteria, and documentation meet internal standards.
  • Support documentation in Confluence including product guides, requirements, and sprint notes.

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Banking industry is required
  • Understanding of lending and loans is highly preferred
  • Degree in business management or similar is preferred
