The Research Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, executing, and collaborating with the department on projects of various sizes. This will include organizing, promoting, and facilitating events, conducting risk assessments on various projects and project proposals, analyzing and reporting on data pertaining to event aspects, and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the Research Coordinator is responsible for supporting a significant research portfolio, with both individual and collaborative research projects. Within the research portfolio, the Research Coordinator is expected to support in analyzing and critiquing scholarly literature and assist in developing significant research articles for the purposes of publication, utilizing various research methodologies and techniques in studies, coordinating participants for studies, and analyzing data in scholarly databases.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates events with internal and external stakeholders, including, but not limited to, other departments, university leadership, Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc leadership and community, local government officials, provincial and national officials, and relevant non-governmental organizations.
- Organizes and facilitates presentations and workshops related to student engagement and awareness surrounding the All My Relations Research Centre.
- Liaises with the Indigenous Nations on which Thompson Rivers University campuses reside, the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc and the T'exelc, as well as the surrounding Nations, the St'át'imc, Nlaka'pamux, Tsilhqot'in, Nuxalk, and Dakelh, in regard to various projects, events, and programs.
- Conducts and reports on risk assessment pertaining to various projects, both domestic and international, and creates contingency plans and positioning.
- Coordinates international exchanges with Indigenous undergraduate students, including logistics, feasibility, and risk assessments.
- Coordinates research projects surrounding Indigenous-based theories and issues, using culturally appropriate Indigenous approaches.
- Supports other team members in their research endeavors, including undertaking additional research within the literature, summarizing and reporting on findings at a graduate-level, facilitating in-person studies, and assisting with data collection and interpreting results.

Requirements
EDUCATION:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of experience, including:
- Working in a post-secondary research environment
- Working with/for an Indigenous nation
- Coordinating projects and events
- Experience in International Relations preferred
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly research methods and processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous-specific methodologies and pedagogies, and ability to implement them into academic projects
- Knowledge of data analysis databases
- Ability to acquire, synthesize, and critique academic literature in various disciplines
- Strong academic writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to deal respectfully with staff, Indigenous partners, and community members
- Strong cultural competency of Indigenous ways of knowing and being
- Demonstrated tact, diplomacy and sensitivity within Indigenous Environments
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work while managing multiple, diverse and competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Ability to collaborate, problem solve and develop relationships
- Demonstrated knowledge of event planning, including budgets, catering, marketing events, managing guest lists, seating arrangements, and general event planning protocols
- Demonstrated experience of publishing processes within academia
- Ability to present ideas and events to a large number of people
- Strong understanding of various aspects of international relation
