Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities
Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of their business goals. It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry. As the Area Supervisor, you will:
• Oversee the implementation of programs, activities, and initiatives related to enforcement, compliance, and approvals processes across the province.
• Assess and measure the effectiveness and accountability of programs, identify needs and gaps, and ensure alignment with ministry standards and strategic directions.
• Address and negotiate the resolution of stakeholder concerns, engage corporate resources for support, and collaborate with other compliance and enforcement agencies.
• Offer program planning and management expertise to senior ministry management, including risk analysis and recommendations for program decisions and directions.
• Create and implement strategies to mitigate risks, manage critical and emerging issues, and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
• Plan, manage, and coordinate project objectives, including developing terms of reference, project charters, and work plans, and ensuring the completion of all deliverables.

Leadership Management:

• You have demonstrated experience leading technical project initiatives in an operational multi-jurisdiction environment.
• You have successfully led the implementation of annual operational plans, including process improvement.
• You have demonstrated leadership capabilities and are able to successfully develop, motivate and inspire technical teams.
Technical Expertise:
• You understand the government's transformational agenda within environmental planning, water resources, air, soils and pesticides.
• You have experience with strategic planning, policy implementation/interpretation in an operational framework.
• You have knowledge of environmental science and can provide advice to staff, stakeholders and senior management.
• You have experience applying environmental legislation, including the Ontario Water Resources Act, the Environmental Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act the Pesticides Act, and the Environmental Assessment Act.
Program Knowledge:
• Understands ministry strategic corporate directions, multi-year business and results-based planning processes, and ministry service delivery models to lead and manage significant ministry programs, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic goals.
• Knowledge of government and ministry financial, administrative, and procurement policies and directives to plan and manage fiscal and material resources, including budget reviews, facility management, asset management, and contract service provider oversight.
• Familiarity with human resources theories, principles, policies, and collective agreements to develop organizational capacity, including succession planning, talent management, organizational design, and labour relations management.
• Proficient in project management principles and methodologies to oversee and guide the overall delivery of mandates and strategies, ensuring effective program implementation and evaluation.
Stakeholders and Relationship Management:
• You have proven experience managing complex relationships which include multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• You have demonstrated issues management experience and use consultative techniques to building strong linkages with your partners.
• You have demonstrated experience communicating complex and technical information to senior leaders in simple language.
