We are looking for a
Director of Procurement
to join our dynamic team at Trophy Foods.

Overview
:
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Procurement, the
Director of Procurement
holds enterprise-critical accountability for the strategic sourcing and financial performance of raw material portfolios across the business. This role is charged with managing and influencing over $200M in annual commodity spend, directly impacting COGS as a % of sales, EBITA targets, and margin per kilogram delivered.
The Lead is expected to operate as a strategic leader in global commodity markets, translating market intelligence and exchange-based trading strategies into long-term procurement outcomes. Success in this role requires the ability to balance supplier negotiations, customer partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring the company maintains a competitive cost base and resilient supply chain. This lead will manage 3 direct reports across both Raw Materials and Packaging functions.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Enterprise Procurement Strategy
- Establish and continually refine best-in-class procurement architecture: people, policies, processes, and systems.
- Oversee the administrative, operational, and tactical objectives of raw material procurement, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
- Market Intelligence & Risk Management
- Leverage advanced market analytics, geopolitical risk assessment, and data modeling to inform sourcing and trading decisions.
- Research and aggregate insights from ERP, market, industry, and S&P data to guide supplier strategy and broader business initiatives.
- Lead commodity risk assessments for all regions, aligning outcomes with corporate growth objectives.
- Present strategies on pricing, hedging, and risk mitigation frameworks for ICE-traded commodities (Cocoa, Sugar, Oils), ensuring cost competitiveness and protection against volatility.
- Financial & Performance Delivery
- Drive procurement strategies that directly deliver on
EBITA margin targets, COGS efficiency, and margin per kilogram metrics
across North American businesses (Trophy and Suntree). - Manage supply risk in alignment with company objectives, values, and emerging product needs.
- Supplier & Market Leadership
- Own executive-level supplier relationships, negotiating high-value contracts with global partners.
- Supervise vendor relationships and contract management, including negotiation of service level agreements, resolution of execution challenges, and performance management through scorecard KPIs.
- Position the company as a thought leader in commodities, with responsibility to represent the organization in global industry forums and supplier summits
- Team Development & Capability Building
- Develop and implement procurement best practices and training initiatives to ensure team capability, productivity, and continuous learning.
- Lead capability-building within the procurement function, embedding advanced commodity knowledge and global market awareness across the team.
- Continuous Improvement & Value Creation
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, using data-driven insights, retrospectives, and effective project management to reduce total cost of ownership and enhance supply resilience.
- Identify and implement new capabilities and processes that increase organizational efficiency, vendor accountability, and cost competitiveness.
Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:
Education & Credentials
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Procurement focus preferred).
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation from SCMA / Supply Chain Canada considered an asset.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive procurement and specific commodity management experience
, ideally within consumer-packaged goods. - Minimum 3+ years at senior level (or equivalent)
overseeing global commodity portfolios of $200M+ spend. - Proven experience managing international supplier and commodity portfolios across multiple regions.
- Demonstrated success partnering with manufacturing and supply chain stakeholders to deliver enterprise outcomes.
Leadership & Influence
- Recognized ability to influence executive-level decision-making, balancing supplier negotiations, financial risk management, and enterprise cost objectives.
- Proven track record of driving organizational change, delivering measurable results, and holding global suppliers accountable.
- Superior negotiation and communication skills, with demonstrated success in securing strategic agreements.
- Highly skilled in presentation and executive storytelling, with the ability to distill complex market and financial data into clear direction for senior leadership and stakeholders.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to build fact-based arguments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (financial modeling) and PowerPoint (executive presentations).
Systems Knowledge
- Hands-on experience with Tier 1 ERP systems in a procurement capacity.
- Prior experience with JD Edwards Supply Management and/or Material Planning modules considered an asset.
