Reporting to the Major Gifts Manager, the Development Coordinator manages donor relations including first point of contact, receipts & acknowledgements, CRM data, and ensures the timely completion of reporting/research for the Foundation. The Development Coordinator will also support the monthly financial reconciliation, collaborate with the Communications Team for social media/fundraising strategies and communications, support community events, and implement the charitable gaming portfolio with a focus on volunteers, accountability, and impact reporting.

YOUR ROLE

  • Acts as the main point of contact for inquiries to the Foundation; handles or redirects incoming inquiries as appropriate.
  • Issues or re-issues receipts and acknowledgements to donors
  • Supports the Foundation with reconciling financial statements monthly against donations
  • Coordinates the charitable gaming programs, including soliciting and supervising volunteers and other community partners while supporting the growth of the charitable gaming portfolio.
  • Collaborates with the Communications Team to research, develop, and support story writing and social media content to inspire donors and the general public into action.
  • Leads the research and support of third-party community events and their organizers to ensure positive brand association, and high impact reporting back to these community contacts.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates a tribute giving program for the Foundation.
  • Leads outreach to Service Clubs to organize presentations and facilitates connections between the Service Club and team members for funding applications, as appropriate.
  • Collaborates in person with the Fund Development team in Newmarket, ON several times per year.
  • Promotes the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with other agency staff, families, volunteers, advocates, and employers.
  • Reports all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and adheres to all Health and Safety requirements within DeafBlind Ontario Services' policies and procedures and provincial legislation.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • College diploma (2+ year program) in communications, business administration, fundraising or related field.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years' experience in fundraising roles or similar capacity in the not-for-profit sector.
  • A valid G driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle is considered an asset

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas and concepts succinctly and with clarity.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities within established timelines.
  • Ability to work effectively both within a team and independently.
  • Is innovative, resilient and takes initiative
  • High proficiency with Donor Perfect or other similar fundraising or Contact Relationship Management software, as well as Microsoft Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, etc.), and willingness to learn other software programs as required.
