About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Assistant Store Manager to support the daily operations of our busy paint and decorating supply store. The ideal candidate has a strong background in the paint industry (minimum 3+ years), excels in customer service, and can confidently guide both contractors and homeowners in product selection and project solutions.

This role is hands-on and leadership-focused, assisting in store management, sales growth, staff support, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily store operations
  • Provide expert product recommendations (paints, stains, primers, coatings, tools, etc.)
  • Support and train team members on product knowledge and customer service standards
  • Mix and tint paint accurately
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors and retail customers
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock control
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and problem resolution
  • Support sales goals and help drive store performance
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising standards
  • Open and close the store as scheduled

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in the paint industry (required)
  • Strong knowledge of paint products, finishes, applications, and tools
  • Experience mixing and tinting paint
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Comfortable working 30–40 hours per week, including weekends
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs
