Job Summary:

As a collaborative and results-driven leader, the Operations Manager drives project delivery and operational excellence in our Calgary branch. Reporting to the Branch General Manager, this role champions safety, quality, and profitability while mentoring teams and strengthening client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Project Operations: Oversee all project management functions, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Implement best practices, optimize processes, and support continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Support Strategic Growth: Collaborate with the Branch General Manager, Estimating and Business Development to align project priorities with capacity, schedule and profitability.
  • Build Client & Trade Relationships: Act as a key point of contact for clients and partners, resolving issues and promoting repeat and referral business.
  • Financial Oversight: Responsible for project financials including budgets, forecasts, cost control, and margin performance.
  • Mentor & Develop Teams: Lead, coach, and support project managers and coordinators, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and professional growth.
  • Champion Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Promote Learning & Consistency:Chair project turnover and close-out meetings to capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement across teams

You are a proven leader with a track record of delivering successful construction projects and developing high-performing teams. You bring a strategic mindset, strong financial acumen, and a passion for mentorship. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are committed to continuous improvement and service excellence.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 8+ years in commercial construction, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications: PMP, GSC, or other project/operations management credentials preferred. Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile certifications are an asset.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of construction operations, project delivery methods, and safety/quality standards.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop cross-functional teams.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and margin analysis.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software (e.g., Procore).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Other: Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver's license and be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
